League Age & Divisions

Kearney Little League is divided into two main programs.  The daytime program is designed for players age 6 through 8.  The nighttime program is designed for players age 9 through 16.

Additionally, Kearney Little League has partnered with the Arc of Buffalo County to offer the Challenger Program.  This program is designed specifically for players with physical or mental disabilities.  For more information about the Challenger program visit the Challenger General Information page.

A player’s league age is determined by his age as of April 30 of the current season year.  If your player is age 5 on April 30th but will turn 6 on May 1st he will not be eligible to play until the following season.  Players age 17 may not participate in Kearney Little League.

Here are some quick facts about the daytime program.

• The daytime program contains 3 separate divisions: 6’s, 7’s and 8’s
• Players are divided by age and will only participate with players of the same age
• Players may not “play up” to a higher age group in the daytime progarm or the nighttime division
• The daytime program runs approximately 4 weeks; usually from the end of May to the end of June
• All practices and games are played from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
• Players are randomly assigned to either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday team
• When rosters are published teams have a (M-W) or (T-Th) notation after their name denoting which days your player will participate

Here are some quick facts about the nighttime program

• The nightime program contains 5 separate divisions: Minors AA, Minors AAA, Majors, Juniors and Seniors
• The Junior division consists of players age 13-14
• The Senior division consists of players age 14-16
• 14 year old players may choose to either stay in the Junior division or “play-up” to the Senior division. No other divisions allow a player to “play-up” or “play-down”
• Each division is one league. This division will be divided as Red and Blue for All-Star team selection purposes only. 
• Games are typically played Monday through Friday with start times ranging from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
